State Senator Glenn Grothman, candidate for Congress in the 6th District, today received the “Friend of Grocers” award from the Wisconsin Grocers Association at Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly in Cedarburg.
The “Friend of Grocers” award is given to legislators who score highly on the WGA’s
Legislative Report Card – an extensive study of all legislators’ performance in the 2013-2014 Legislative Session. Lawmakers are graded according to their actions on certain issues that are especially important to the grocery industry, including: unemployment insurance reforms; allowing grocers to sell growlers; and several labor issues.
“Senator Grothman has a long record of supporting the grocery industry in Wisconsin and has accumulated quite a collection of carts having received this award seven times during his tenure,” said WGA President & CEO Brandon Scholz. “Grothman is a strong leader and advocate for grocers and all businesses and does an outstanding job representing his district.”
